Theme

Not living in a cabin in the woods, away from society, can be a heavy weight.

Not giving-up everything, and living the life of a wandering monk, sometimes requires effort.

It is hard not to feel the weight of the world.

We resist responsibility. We resist the looming future of more things to do.

Grey clouds, (and grey hairs) gather.

There is a slow process for freedom in the world. Thankfully.

There’s a few who have grown old and wise, and found this freedom in the world of action. Usually, they’re not really sure how.

Time, and awareness, I’d say. That’s what can lead to freedom in action. Watching the twists & loops of human stories, swirling by.

Luckily, you can save a bit of time on the path to wisdom, as awareness alone can free you too.

But a special kind of awareness.

This awareness takes practice. It takes coming to a place inside where there’s nothing more to do. And then doing something, just for the sake of action in itself.

This sounds simple, but will still take a spicy amount of time to master it.

But I want it for you. I want it for everyone. We have to find freedom in the world of action. As action, performed by those with nothing more to do, is the greatest kind of action. It has a kind of purity to it, a softness, an openness, and a knowingness that produces an effect far beyond the immediate environment.

Those living in the woods, or in the monastery, aren’t coming back. We wish them well, as we gently grieve our lonely hilltop retreats.

We quietly settle for a retreat in Brandenburg, for a weekend, where we learn to gather our grey hairs, and continue the slow and steady process of building a special kind of awareness. An awareness that can hold the world, and all the action in it. And then move gently, from a place of unknowing freedom.

Freedom in action. And a momentary lifting of the weight. That’s enough. It’s a good life. And worth working towards as often as you can.

So that’s what we’ll learn. And that’s what we’ll practice on retreat with Carmen & I, this September.

Advanced Meditation Practices

During the retreat, you will receive expert guidance in an advanced meditation technique known as rounding—a powerful combination of gentle yoga postures, pranayama (breathwork), and meditation.

This structured program is designed to provide profound rest in a short time, accelerating the release of stress and deepening your practice. The benefits of this retreat are equivalent to six months of twice-daily meditation.

In addition to advancing both your meditation practice and experience of life, you will come away from the retreat feeling refreshed and revitalised for months to come.

Many participants report that a few days after a rounding retreat, they feel as though they’ve had the restorative effects of a two- to three-week holiday.

Beautiful Retreat Location

After an exceptional retreat last summer, we can’t wait to return to Haus Taubenblau—our retreat home, just an hour from Berlin in Stolzenhagen, Brandenburg, on the edge of the Lower Oder Valley National Park.

Since its opening in 2016, Haus Taubenblau has become known as one of the most beautiful, purpose-built retreat centers in Brandenburg. We are thrilled to offer you a deeply comfortable retreat experience on this spacious estate, complete with an adjoined meditation barn and pristine nature all around—all at the lowest price possible.

Throughout the retreat, you’ll find many secluded spots for quiet reflection. Whether in one of the beautifully furnished communal rooms or nestled in the park-like garden among rose bushes and apple trees, a private nook is always within reach.

A special highlight of the retreat space is “the deck”—a large, covered terrace perfect for sunbathing, unwinding, or meditating outdoors.

The accommodations are modern, bright, and thoughtfully designed. You’ll stay in shared double rooms or one of two spacious dorms, each equipped with four beds separated by wardrobe dividers for added privacy. Single rooms are available for an additional fee.

During our stay, we’ll explore the breathtaking Lower Oder Valley, a protected national park known for its rich biodiversity. This cross-border sanctuary between Germany and Poland is home to a stunning variety of landscapes—from water lily-covered floodplains and flower-filled meadows to enchanting forests. And as we’ll be visiting during the tail end of summer, be sure to pack your swimming gear for a refreshing dip!

Nourishment

Haus Taubenblau’s chef, Freya, and her team will delight us each day with lovingly prepared vegetarian meals and snacks. Many ingredients come straight from the house’s own vegetable garden, while others are locally sourced from nearby farms.

Expect warm, flavorful dishes—vegetable curries, rice, dahls, and soups—perfectly spiced to satisfy your senses. You’ll also enjoy fresh salads, seasonal fruits, homemade desserts, and heartwarming drinks like chai and golden milk.

Non-Profit Retreat: The Most Accessible Price Possible!

We believe that every meditator who feels called should have the opportunity to experience the transformative power of a rounding retreat.

To make this possible, we are committed to hosting one non-profit retreat each year.

This means that Carmen and Eddie receive no income from these retreats. Every penny you pay goes directly towards covering the costs of the retreat itself.

While we strive to keep the retreat accessible, we’ve also prioritized comfort and excellent hospitality in our choice of retreat location. Trust us—you’ll be grateful for it. After a full day immersed in meditation, a bit of extra coziness and a delicious meal go a long way.

Comfort comes at a cost, and as we’ve all noticed, prices are on the rise. This is also true for our retreat location, whose prices have increased since last year.

To ensure we can still offer this retreat to as many people as possible, we provide a sliding scale retreat fee. You’ll choose the amount you can contribute from three categories: reduced, standard, or support fee—no questions asked.

For full details on pricing, please refer to the link below.

Rooms will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The first ten sign-ups will be placed in 2-person shared rooms, with the remainder accommodated in 3- to 4-person shared dorms.

If you have any questions, big or small, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Love,
Eddie and Carmen
